A note from the editor

July 10, 2025

Some members of the Lindale community have responded negatively to an article we published in the Lindale News on June 26, 2025: “City of Roses Celebrates Pride Month.”

A few readers chose to cancel their subscriptions, while others expressed their disappointment in the story and in Lindale News itself.

We want to take this opportunity to clarify our position on choosing stories.

When Christ was asked which commandment was the greatest, He offered two in reply. The second can be found in Mark 12:31:

“The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

There is no “Mark 12:31b” that reads: “unless, of course, your neighbor doesn’t speak your language, was born in another country, is too short, loves differently than you, dresses differently, expresses themselves differently, eats foods you don’t like, committed adultery, or has a criminal record.”

\
Christ made it clear and simple: Love your neighbor.

We strive to live our faith every day, and we hope that is reflected in our publications and in the stories we choose to cover. We will, to the best of our ability, create a newspaper for the entire community of Lindale and the surrounding area. We will not exclude anyone based on superficial features or human frailty.

We are saddened to know that some in our community did not appreciate this story. We understand that no single article will speak to everyone. But we publish many stories, on many subjects, and we hope that our readers will continue to find much to appreciate in our pages.

Sincerely,

Stacey Starkey, Editor
Rambler Texas Media
